HARMONY explores the relationship between the human body and the environment.
The largeness of the earth can seem overwhelming at times, but remembering that our bodies and the land are related, no matter our difference in size, can be a comforting thought. Thinking about our connection to the earth, especially in times of detachment and dissociation, is a helpful tool in feeling grounded and present.
Subjects are wrapped in spandex material that is form fitting to the human figure and is meant to take on the look of the surrounding environment in every location. The figures perform as each element would; such as flowy like a cloud or stiff and static like a rock. The body affects and alters the material when stretching underneath it, just as we affect the environment though our presence.
By using the body as a direct reference to the land, these images are captured performances of the body as environment.
