Emily Sylman is a photo-based artist currently making things in Toronto, ON. She is interested in constructing photographs and objects that explore themes of play, fact and fiction, and the relationship between form, feeling, and language. Creating work that feels tender, funny, and accessible in an effort to make connections with her environment and peers is an important aspect of Emily’s practice. Her work functions as a way of attempting to make sense of and hopefully gain a better understanding of the world around her. She received a BFA from Ryerson University in 2017.
